It has been 16 days since my last note to you.
It feels like a lifetime has elapsed in that short amount of time.
- I went to Hawaii to speak at a conference for physicians and healers. My topic: how to write vulnerable, powerful stories from the heart. (I got to wear one of those fancy microphones and I totally felt like Mariah
Carey.)
- I beat a personal
fitness record — which required doing the one thing I'd never been willing to do before: empty the tank.
- A lovely woman interviewed me about what it was like to grow up in a family of ultra-high-achievers, how that impacted my sense of self worth, and what I tell myself when I feel like I don't matter.
- I finished teaching my online writing course, Unstoppable, and then turned it into a do-it-at-your-own-pace course. It's now available for anyone who wants to start... at any time. Enjoy.
- I made a big personal decision and wrote down my new,
revamped priorities for 2015. (Neat fact: putting your goals in writing makes you 42% more likely to follow through. If that's something you want to do, I made a workbook for you. It's called Commitment. You can download it here. It's free.)
- Most importantly of all: I invented Salad Cake. It's cake. Packed with pureed spinach,
spirulina, flax, bananas, dates, and other healthy ingredients, layered together with love. It is insanely good. My new obsession!
“There’s a
difference between interest and commitment. When you’re interested in something, you do it only when it’s convenient. When you’re committed to something, you accept no excuses; only results.” ―Kenneth H. Blanchard
Preach, Kenneth!
I am committed to
inventing ten new kinds of Salad Cake, writing two new full-length books, shattering my personal records at the gym & in all areas of my life, and inspiring people to be brave and unstoppable — as often as I possibly can.
Whatever you are committed to... I hope you create time for it, even just a little bit, today.
Lead with love.
Get it done.
-Alex
PS. I made a new music playlist. It's intense and a
little gritty and grungy at times. Prepare for pounding beats that will make you want to punch, row, write, launch... GO. PPS. I have decided to lead one more Make A Tiny Book workshop this year, because the first one was so damn fun. It's happening in July. Expect: writing
lessons, insights on publishing and how to get projects done, motivation, music, laughter, and bacon. I have four seats left. If you want to come... come.
