Free workbook on how to get clients—and more fun things!

Published: Fri, 04/21/17

Happy Friday!

(Or "Happy Saturday!" if you live on the other side of the world.)

I hope you're having a beautiful, productive week.

I wanted to let you know about a new workbook that I just created, and some upcoming classes, workshops, and other ways that we can interact, write, work, and play together.

I put the entire list down below. I've arranged everything in order of price—ranging from "zero dollars" to "a lot of dollars," because I know everyone's got different budgets and preferences, and that's totally cool!

Here we go...

. . .

WORKBOOK: GET MORE CLIENTS

This is a 9-page workbook. Digital. PDF. It's brand new. You can download it here.

In this workbook, I tell the story of how I lined up my very first 3 clients. Then I give you an email template that you can fill out and send out to people in your community—family, friends, colleagues, classmates, Internet buddies, etc.—to gently ask them to help you find clients.

If you want to line up a bunch of clients—without feeling icky and pushy—this might really help you out. Enjoy!

Price: Zero dollars.

CLASS: STOP PROCRASTINATING. START WRITING.

This is a 90-minute video class where I share my thoughts on how to stop stalling, stop making excuses, stop doubting yourself and *finally* start writing. I co-taught this class along with my friend Susan Hyatt. You can watch the recording here.

Price: Zero dollars.

. . .

CLASS: CRITICISM AND COURAGE.

OMG! Writing can be SO SCARY sometimes! Mean blog comments. Rejection emails from publishers. Unhappy customers who insist that your work isn't "valuable enough" and demand refunds. People who publicly shame you for having the occasional typo. Good grief.

It's a rough world out there. If you have a difficult time handling criticismor if the very *thought* of being criticized sends you into a panic-spiralI'd love to help you feel a little better.

Here's a 90-minute video class on criticism that you can watch live on May 11, 2017. Or you can watch the recording later. I hope this class leaves you feeling a little calmer and stronger.

Price: Zero dollars.

PEP TALKS

Do you need a pep talk? Are you struggling with a break-up, a difficult time in your career, or just feeling shlumpy, frumpy, and un-motivated?

If you want, you can send me an email—alexandra@alexandrafranzen.com—and say, "Alex, I could really use a pep talk." Tell me what's up. Nobody will read your email except for me. Totally confidential.

I will record a quick audio pep talk (MP3) especially for you. It might take me a couple weeks to get back to you, depending on my current life / workload / schedule / etc. But I'll get back to you sooner or later, and I'll send you a big burst of encouragement. I want you to know: you're going to survive.

I love giving these kinds of pep talks. It's truly my pleasure, so reach out if you want to.

Price: Zero dollars.

WORKSHOPS: LONDON, ENGLAND

I'm heading to London this summer! An organization called Urban Curiosity invited me to be a special guest instructor and lead a couple workshops on writing. Specifically—how to write and self-publish a "tiny book" (10-40 pages) on any topic that excites you.

One workshop is happening on June 8, 2017 in the evening. The other one is a longer retreat that runs June 9 - 12, 2017, and it includes accommodations at a chic hotel. You can contact clare@urbancuriosity.org if you have any questions about these London events.

Price: £197 - £1397, depending on which event you're attending. That's about $250 - $1785 in US dollars.

CLASS: DIG DEEP

DIG DEEP is a brand new writing class that I created with my friend Susan Hyatt. (That's a photo of us in NYC, where we recorded the videos for this class!)

In this class, we show you how to set yourself up for a successful writing session—how to organize your thoughts, decide what you’re trying to say, and hit your points clearly.

We also dive into the emotional side of writing—how to build confidence, release perfectionism, and stop nit-picking everything you create.

The class includes videos, workbooks, and other cool materials, including a checklist of 25 places where you can submit your work and try to get published. Oh, and also, there's a goofy dance break to help you stop grimacing at your computer screen and crack a lil' smile. Writing is way easier after 60 seconds of ridiculous dancing, I swear!

It's an online class. Independent study. Move at your own pace. No time pressure. No deadlines. (And in case you're wondering: this class does not include 1-on-1 writing coaching / mentoring from me and Susan. Just videos 'n stuff that you watch at home.)

Here's all the info on what DIG DEEP includes and the specific topics we cover.

If DIG DEEP feels super-wonderful-yes-yes-yes-exciting to you, go for it!

If DIG DEEP doesn't feel like the right class for you, or if it feels too expensive right now, hey, that's OK! There are plenty of other ways we can interact. (See above. :)

Price: $497. You can sign up with a deposit of $47, and then pay the rest in a couple installments.

THANKS FOR READING!

I hope you found at least one item on this list that sparked a new idea, brought you some fresh energy, or made you smile.

Have an excellent weekend. Take care of yourself. Give someone a compliment. Wear a sassy hat. Send a nice text to your mom. Look up from your phone and stare at the sky. You know, like Oprah says... Live your best life.

PS. This song is beautiful and it makes me feel very reeeeelaxed.
