No more waiting.

Published: Fri, 05/05/17

Earlier today, I was chatting with someone who wrote an entire collection of short stories. Stories about God. Stories about growing up. Stories about families and swimming pools and supernatural mysteries. They're just sitting there in a Word document. Never published.

I was like, "Dude, what's stopping you???"

Here's what you do. You open that document. You go: File > Print > Save As PDF. Then you attach the PDF to an email and send it to your friends. Or you can upload the PDF to Gumroad and sell your e-book for a few bucks. All done. Finito. It can be that simple.

You don't need a fancy cover design, or a literary agent, or a book deal, or a publicist, or anything like that. You can do this today—and you can do it by yourself. Just go for it. You'll feel so proud of yourself, and your friends will be like, "Whooooooa. Look what you made!"

That's what I told him—and that's what I want to say to you, too.

Whatever cool idea or project you're just "sitting" on, please... stop waiting.

Post those tips. Record that 30-second pep talk. Make a 5-second GIF and share it. Think how amazing it will feel to get it out there! And who knows... your mini-sized project could shake up, brighten, or totally transform someone's day. Tiny projects can have a big impact.

No more waiting.

Do it. Do it. Do it.

How to structure an article, blog post, or story.

"I'm trying to write an article... but I can't figure out how it should start! Or how to structure it! Or what the closing line should be! Gaaah!" Sound like you? Check this out. I hope it's helpful!

How to tell a great story—onstage.

Awhile back, I met some lovely people named Eric and Reba and they gave me some great public speaking tips, like: "Remember that the audience is on your side." Yes! The audience wants you to relax and have fun. They want you to succeed. They're rooting for you. Sometimes, we forget that.

100 questions to spark conversation and connection.

Tons and tons of questions to spark fascinating dinner table conversations... and writing ideas! If you ever feel like, "Ugh! I don't know what to write about!" these questions might get some new ideas flowing.

Free video class: Copywriting from the heart.

If copywriting—aka, writing website language and other marketing / promotional language—makes your head hurt, you might enjoy this free video class! I recorded it with my wonderful friend Michelle. To watch the class (and a bunch of other free classes, too), head over here and enter this password: wowee

Free video class: Criticism & Courage.

In a few days, I'm doing a free video class on how to deal with criticism, rejection, and discouragement. Because it can be a scary world out there. You can register here if you want to attend. I'm going to share a couple of cringe-y, scary stories from my career—like that time someone called one of my books "juvenile" and "awful" and gave me a 1-star Amazon review. (It wasn't fun, but I survived... and you're going to survive, too.)

Any requests?

Remember when people used to listen to the radio? And the DJ would say, "Call right now and tell me which song you want to hear next. The request line is open!" I always LOVED calling in. My #1 request was usually "Brick House" by the Commodores. That song is dope.

Anyway, I created a "request line" for... YOU!

What’s something you’d love to see me write about, teach, or create? Is there a particular question on your mind? Something you’re struggling with? Something you’ve been curious about? Something you’d like me to cover in a future article, newsletter, or class?

Click here and type your requests / ideas / questions. Anything goes! It’s OK if your idea is "totally wild” or “super random.” You can be anonymous... or not. Thank you so much! I’m excited to see your requests!

Have a beautiful weekend!

Go dance. Go hike. Go write. Go get yourself a fancy sandwich. Go tell your mom, "I love you." Go make something beautiful for one special person—or the entire world—to enjoy.

No more waiting.

PS. This song is fantastic. This one, too. And this one will get your energy waaaay up!

PPS. My friend Vanessa wrote a book called Captivate. It's all about facial expressions, body language, vocal patterns, and how to understand—and connect—with people in a deeper way. I tore through the entire thing in two days. It's fascinating! Highly recommended.

PPPS. This is how I motivate my friends and clients. Haha!
