When I was a little kid, my 2nd grade teacher always did "Show & Tell Day" once a week.
One by one, each student would walk up to the front of the room, show something to the class,
and talk about it for a minute or two. It could be anything you wanted. "This is my favorite rock from my rock collection..." "This is my project for the science fair..." "Hi, I made this drawing of a horse..."
I always loved Show & Tell Day. I want to revive that childhood tradition, and include all the amazing people in my local, international, and virtual community. As in...
YOU!
— Yes, YOU! —
Do you have something you'd like to "Show & Tell" and talk about publicly?
Maybe an article, book, video, podcast, song, painting, product,
activism project, workshop, or... something else you've created? Something you love? Something you're proud of? Something you wish more people knew about?
Please hit REPLY to this email and tell me about it. Please include your name, a link to your project, and a brief description of what it is, and why you're so excited about it.
I will make a big list of your projects (as many as I can!), and my next newsletter will be a "Community Show & Tell" filled with YOUR work, soaring out to everyone on my mailing list—which is 13,000-ish people. This will be so fun! Whether it's
online or offline... please don't be afraid to share your work. Please don't hide in the back row. Stand up. Speak up. Let people know what you've been writing, researching, and working on. People will (probably) be much more interested and excited than you think. And your bravery will inspire other people to be braver, too.
And if you think your project is "too silly" or "too small" or
"doesn't matter," I'm sorry, but you're wrong about that. Your words, your actions, your art projects, your efforts, every small, tender, beautiful thing that you put forth into the world matters so much. So much more than you may realize.
Your work deserves to be seen, shared, and celebrated. So let's do this. Send me a note. Show it. Tell it. Brag about it. Insert GIFs and emojis if you wish. Squeal with pride.
I can't wait to see whatever you've been working on... whatever beautiful thing has sprung out of your mind and heart.

PS. I will kick things off! Here are a few things that I'm really, really excited to Show & Tell...
- A few weeks ago, I signed an option agreement so that my latest novel—So This Is The End—can be turned into a script and one day, hopefully, an actual TV show. OMG OMG OMG.
- I'm teaching a class on storytelling and public speaking in LA, NYC, and Portland this fall—along with two amazing co-teachers. The class is called OUT LOUD and it's going to be SO MUCH FUN. If you'd love to feel more confident speaking in front of an audience—onstage, teaching classes, on camera, on podcasts, etc.—definitely
check this out.
- I'm doing another writing-yoga-fitness retreat in Hawaii this January. YAY! It's called MUSCLE & HEART. I opened registration last week, and it's already sold out! However, I decided to add a second retreat to the calendar for January. So now there's another chance to come to Hawaii! Here's all the info.
- I need to give a HUGE shout-out to a couple of my incredible clients...
- - Susan just
launched BARE DAILY, an online community that's dedicated to helping women stop dieting, stop obsessing about their bodies, and create a happy, balanced relationship with food and fitness. YES, Susan, YESSSS!
- - Kelsey recently booked a speaking gig at one of the Facebook offices, and another one at Twitter, because she's fancy like that. Go, Kelsey!
OK, I will curtail myself right there, because this email could go on... and on... and on! Too much excitement! I can't wait to hear what you've been working on, too. I'm passing the baton over to... you.
