Do you ever think, "I wish I was better at speaking in front of an audience"? or "I wish I knew how to tell stories in a way that's really captivating and
inspiring"?
Do you dream about speaking onstage? Delivering a TEDx Talk? Hosting a podcast or webinar? Being a guest on a radio show? Teaching or leading your own retreat? Or just feeling more confident when you speak to clients on the phone, in person, or during presentations?
Would you
like to feel a little braver about speaking up in all areas of your life—whether it's calling your Senator, making a bold suggestion at work, or telling "that one story" you've never told before?
If any of that resonates with you, then I think you'll LOVE my brand new class, which is called... OUT LOUD.
OUT LOUD is a one-day class on storytelling, public speaking, and stage presence.
The class is happening three times: Los Angeles
(Saturday, September 30, 2017), New York City (Saturday, October 7, 2017), and Portland, Oregon (Saturday, October 14, 2017).
Tickets are $470. A healthy lunch, snacks, inspiration, encouragement, smart
ideas, and unlimited hugs are included.
You'll spend the day with me + about 20 fellow students + 2 other instructors...
- Dale Franzen, an opera singer and theater producer (and my incredible MOM!) who will teach you about breath control,
posture, stage presence, and dealing with insecurity and anxiety, and...
- Scarlet Chamberlin, a stylist who's worked with A-list celebs and bestselling authors. She'll teach you how to express yourself through your clothing and feel more confident when you're appearing onstage, on camera, teaching, presenting, or simply moving through your daily
life.
Our beautiful classroom for OUT LOUD in Portland.
OUT LOUD would be a great class for you if…
- You’ve never done any public speaking before, but you want to start.
- You’ve done a little public speaking before, but you want to improve.
- You’d love to do a TEDx Talk, an open mic night, teach a seminar, or maybe do a podcast one day, but speaking in front of an audience feels pretty intimidating.
- You worry about things like: forgetting the point of what you wanted to say, running out of breath, shaking, fidgeting, or sounding
rambly—plus, you don’t know what to wear!
- You want to build confidence, learn some new skills, relax, and have some fun.
- You really need someone to look you in the eye and remind you, “You can do this.”

Podcasting: it's like public speaking, but for introverts who feel "on the fence" about wearing pants!
In addition to OUT LOUD, I've got a few other events coming up that I'd love to share with you...
REAL TALK RADIO: LIVE Portland, Oregon Saturday September 9, 2017
It's a show
where people share the "real stuff" that's going on in their lives—the stuff that typically doesn't get posted on Instagram or Facebook. It's heartfelt, funny, and moving. I love this podcast because it always helps me feel... a little less alone.
Nicole is doing a very special "live audience" edition of Real Talk Radio on September 9th—and I'll be the guest on the program that day!
Join us for conversation, stories, coffee, snacks, and Q&A time where you can ask anything you want. I will probably share secrets I've never shared before. I might cry. Maybe you will, too. But the "beautiful, healing" kind of crying, not the "I smashed my toenail in the car door" kind. Hopefully.
It's happening in the Community Room at the Kennedy School in Portland. You can get tickets here, or email hello@nicoleantoinette.com if you've got questions.
MULTIPLY LIVE Greensboro, North Carolina Tuesday,
September 26 - Thursday, September 28, 2017
I'm speaking at a mini-conference (about 100 attendees) called MULTIPLY LIVE, hosted by Rachel Rodgers. She's an attorney and business strategist. She's also funny, cool, brave, and has seriously amazing hair.
This conference is for people who want to take intellectual
property (a signature method, process, or concept that you've developed) and turn it into a profitable digital product (like an online class, for example).
If you run a counseling / coaching / healing / teaching / copywriting / design business, or some other type of service-based business, and you'd like to expand, create a new revenue stream, and multiply your income, this conference is for you!
I'll be teaching a writing class at MULTIPLY LIVE, and I'm also excited to be a student and learn a ton, too!
Accommodation is not included, however, Rachel has negotiated a great rate to stay at the 4-star Proximity Hotel (pictured above) in Greensboro, so you've got a beautiful place to stay if you need one. And rumor has it that there's going to be a dance party (yesss!) so this conference should be LOTS of fun.

Can't come to any of these fun events? Too expensive? Not possible? Feeling sad? Please read the end of this newsletter...
I recognize that not everyone is able to travel to classes and retreats and podcast tapings and whatnot. Sometimes it's too expensive, or there's a dog with a broken hip who needs full-time care, or little kids at home, or a job that doesn't permit much vacation time,
etc.
If traveling isn't possible for you right now, you can...
- Read hundreds of my articles on writing, communication, creativity, and productivity—for free—here.
- Download workbooks and coloring sheets and listen to podcast recordings—for free—here.
- Join my online writing class, DIG DEEP, which has ongoing enrollment and no stressful deadlines, so you can join in anytime.
- Or, send an email to hello@alexandrafranzen.com and say, "I would like a nice present, please!" and I will send a special treat to
you. :)
Thanks for reading! Thanks for living! Thanks for being cool!
See you online and maybe on the road, too...
-Alex
PS. Music recommendations for the week! I am obsessed with this sweet song. It sounds like a sunbeam that's shaking a pair of maracas, and it makes me dance around my apartment like this. So festive! In
other news, African pop music is the best pop music and that is a fact. Also, are you aware that there's a pair of Norwegian twins named Marcus & Martinus who rap, sing, and dance like teeny Justin Bieber-clones from Scandinavia? Please educate yourself fully.
PPS. It's been a difficult week for about a million different reasons, so here's a big, goofy hug for you. I hope it makes you smile, even just for a 1/4 of a second.
