Hi friends,
A few weeks ago, I shared a list of the wonderful people who are currently part of my business team: proofreaders, audio editors, illustrators, designers, coaches, advisors, and more.
Today, on a similar note, I'm sharing a list of life and business tools that I love.
I hope you discover a few new, helpful things that make your day a little better than it was before.
Here's to staying organized, productive, focused, and somewhat-vaguely-mostly-sane (haaaa!) in this wild and crazy world...
. . .
I use...
gumroad.com to sell digital products online, like e-books and e-courses.
aweber.com to send out my email newsletters—like this one that you’re reading right now.
unroll.me to unsubscribe from dozens of email lists all in one click. I love decluttering my inbox.
vocaroo.com to record quick audio messages that I can
email to friends and clients. Because sometimes hearing someone's voice is nicer than a plain ol' email.
wave.com for sending invoices to clients. I love how you can set up recurring invoices that go out monthly / automatically.
spotify.com for making my own music playlists—and discovering other people’s playlists, too.
blocksite.co to block distracting websites that are too tempting
for me. Byeee.
calendly.com makes it easy for clients to pick a date and time to chat with you.
grammarly.com for checking my writing for typos, missing words, duplicate words,
and over-used words. However, I try not to obsess over typo-stuff too much, because life is too damn short to waste time panicking over "teh" versus "the." Right? Right.
When I’m searching for a venue to host a writing retreat or
workshop, I usually check airbnb.com and vrbo.com first. (Although, there are plenty of free places to host workshops, too. Public libraries. Community centers. Your living room. The local park. Producing an inspiring event doesn't need to cost much at all.)
To keep myself healthy, strong, and energized, I love classpass.com and I recently got a BUTI yoga membership so I can watch online videos and follow along at home. I also love do-it-at-home workouts from blogilates.com. And I recently got this bottle, which inspires me to chug way more water because it's so darn cute.
I
love old-school paper, stationery, notebooks, and dear lord, how I love a good clipboard! I've been using this one for the last few months. It makes me so happy.
I also use this standing desk platform so that I can stand up while I type because I haaaa-aaate sitting all day along. I am obsessed with it! Standing desk forever! I preach about it fervently and obnoxiously to anyone
who will listen! Seriously, stand up to work instead of sitting. Your body will feel so much better.
. . .
I am wishing you a beautiful week.
Whatever you’re working on right now... Set your intention. Set up your workspace. Gather your tools. Commit. Focus. Dive in. Believe that it’s doable... and it will be.
Love,
-Alex
PS. I've been listening to this dancehall music playlist and it's giving me all the good vibes. This is a super intense workout playlist that will make you feel like a superhero-muscle-robot-warrior from outer space. Or, for something completely different, this is a very soothing, relaxing, and hypnotic soundtrack for when you want to mellow
out.
PPS. Just in case you're curious, no, I don't receive any payments / affiliate fees / commissions of any kind for recommending the tools that I just mentioned. I am recommending them purely because I like them and find them very useful. That's all. <3
PPPS. HERE COMES A GIGANTIC VIRTUAL HUG ESPECIALLY FOR YOU ... {{{{{ you }}}}
... just in case you need some comfort right now. You are beautiful. You are loved. Hang in there.
