Hey!
I'm hiring a book cover design—and a paid intern.
If you're interested in working with me, please check out the info below—or pass this email along to someone who might be a good fit. Thank you so much!
Book Cover Designer
* Freelance position. Occasional projects.
* Design covers for the Tiny Press, an imprint of Mango Press.
* I will need 2 beautiful book covers a.s.a.p. (completed within the next few weeks) plus 4-5 more covers throughout 2020.
* I will provide direction / ideas / inspiration for you, giving you a very clear sense of what I'd love to see.
* Tiny Press books are short books. Typically 100-150 pages in length, usually 5x7" in size. Inspirational, motivational, uplifting non-fiction, memoirs, and poetry.
* Interested? Awesome! Please email hello@alexandrafranzen.com with your pricing (how much per cover?), availability (when can you start?) and a few samples of your work. Important: I'm looking for someone who
already has experience designing book covers. Thank you so much!
Paid Internship
* 10 hours per week / 40 hours per month. Starting January 2020—or sooner if you'd like.
* We'll start with a 2-month "test drive," see how things go, and then if we're both feeling happy—we'll continue.
* $20 per hour to start, with a bonus / incentive structure to reward you with extra cash for hitting certain goals.
* Virtual position. Work from anywhere in the world. We'll communicate via email / text / Facetime / etc.
* Totally flexible schedule. I don't mind when you work—any time of day that's convenient for you—as long as you're completing your weekly to-do list, it's all good!
* Tasks include: Proofread short essays, articles, webpages, newsletters. Occasionally, proofread longer pieces, including books. Research and fact-checking. Answer emails. Help run community challenges—like the annual Tiny Project Challenge. Book
launch / publicity / marketing tasks—for instance, email journalists (using a template that I'll provide to you), schedule appearances on my calendar, follow up to confirm dates. Quality-control tasks—for instance, listen to an audiobook (or online class) to double-check that everything sounds great before it's released to the public. Other miscellaneous
tasks: book flights, snail-mail gifts to clients, etc.
* Plus, other tasks that you want to do! What excites and interests you? What ideas do you have? We can incorporate those into your weekly and monthly to-do list, as well.
* This would be a great position for someone who's interested in writing (all kinds of writing: non-fiction, fiction, copywriting, content writing, ghostwriting, editing, etc.), communication, the book publishing industry, event planning (writing workshops and retreats), online media, storytelling, basically...making
art. I would love to support your personal dreams and mentor you—in addition to paying you to work for me. :)
* If you're already pretty familiar with me and my work, that's a huge plus.
* Interested? Niiiiice. Please email hello@alexandrafranzen.com with some info about yourself and your skills (think: brief bullet point list) and please share 1 or 2 reasons why this position excites you.
About me & my company: Alexandra Franzen LLC
* It's all about words, art, and love.
* Mission: remind people that life is brief and precious—and today is not over yet. If there's something you yearn to make (a book, poem, song, painting, performance, whatever) don't wait—do it
now.
* I work 1:1 with clients and companies of all sizes on a wide range of writing projects—developing speeches and TEDx talks, writing book proposals and book manuscripts, collaborating to create new websites, podcasts, marketing materials, and more.
* I also run workshops, classes, and retreats several times a year. Themes: writing, art, yoga, fitness, self-care, goal-setting and time management, overcoming emotional/creative blocks, mindfulness, simplicity.
* I run a newsletter with a readership of about 13,000—and write for various publications.
* I run the Tiny Press, an imprint of a larger book publishing company called Mango Press, which is the fastest-growing small/independent publisher in the United
States.
* I write my own books and typically release a new one every 1-2 years.
* Coming in 2020: a line of inspirational card decks, posters, coffee mugs, and other products.
* "Generosity" is a quality that I value highly, and that I try to embody daily. When I hire someone, I always strive to help them flourish in any way I possibly can. If there's any way I can support your dreams, life, career, income, etc., I will do it. I'm a pretty cool "boss." :)
Thanks, everyone! Please have a beautiful week.
-Alex
PS. If you reach out, you will get a personal reply from either myself—or my assistant, Kate. Please be patient. Currently it's just the two of us, and sometimes we get very behind on emails. Which is just one of the many reasons why I'm hiring an intern to help out.
Haha. :)
PPS. My friend Molly made this gorgeous, calm restorative yoga playlist. Sooooo nice.
PPPS. Ooh, one other quick thing! Are you a psychologist, psychiatrist, neuroscientist, or someone else who knows a lot about the human brain and neurotransmitters: dopamine, oxytocin, etc.? I'm looking for a brain specialist who can read a very short section of my forthcoming book (2-3 pages in total) and confirm that my writing is scientifically accurate. Fact-check / make sure I'm not saying anything untrue. I'm happy to pay for your time. Email hello@alexandrafranzen.com if you'd like to do this, please.
PPPPS. If you haven't done this in awhile...please take a full day with lots of nature and no phone. Go look at the waves. Stare at the clouds. Feel damp earth under your toes. I did this yesterday. I literally feel like a brand new person. Ahhhh.
