Is it *really* possible to create a book...in just 5 days?
Yes.
Here's the story of how I did it.
Last week, I felt inspired to make a list of reasons why you should write a book. Well, reasons why you should write a book—but really, reasons why you should make anything of any kind, like a song, video, painting, speech, class, or anything else you want to create.
First, I put on some peaceful music to get myself in the word-zone.
Then, I started typing, writing from the "hut" (heart + gut) without editing or censoring myself.
I wrote down various reasons that floated into my head, in no particular order. "Because your project might help one human being to feel less alone." "Because your project might change someone’s life." "Because it feels amazing to hold the finished book in your hands." And so on.
About 1 hour later, I instinctively felt "done" so I stopped writing. I'd made a nice list. I counted the items. It just happened to be exactly 25 reasons. Neat.
I asked Woz (my amazing assistant) to proofread the list for typos. She did that.
I shared the list with my colleague Lindsey. She loved it.
Lindsey passed it along to her graphic designer, Lucy. She loved it, too.
Lindsey said, "Let's make this into a tiny book! Why not?" She hired Lucy to transform the list into an e-book complete with a lovely cover design and simple illustrations for each page.
Within a matter of days, the e-book was finished and ready to be released! And it's free! Take a look! It turned out beautifully.
And that's how we created a tiny book in 5 days.
Moral of the story:
Creating something beautiful (whether it's a digital book, printed book, podcast, or any other project) doesn't have to be complicated. It doesn't have to be exhausting. It doesn't have to be expensive. And it doesn't have to "take forever and ever."
If you keep your concept simple and uncomplicated, you can move from "idea" to "done" very swiftly. The main issue (as I've observed with clients, and in my own personal life) is that us humans love to overcomplicate things, which slows things down.
What could you create in 5 days or less? How about 5 hours? 5 minutes? Or even 1 minute?
You can write a tiny love letter in 1 minute—and your tiny gesture can make a big difference in someone's day. It could make someone smile, cry, laugh, melt into a gooey puddle of appreciation, or feel hopeful for the first time in weeks.
Tiny projects are a big deal.
What's something *tiny* that you could create quickly and joyfully?
Whatever it is, don't wait. Do it. Add your tiny dash of love to the world. Because our world needs all the love, beauty, and hope it can get.
