When my friend Rachel told me she’d gotten a book deal with a top publisher, I was thrilled.
When she asked if I would be her book coach and help her finish the manuscript on time, I was honored.
I figured it would be a fun and interesting project.
I had no idea how significantly my life was about to change.
Rachel Rodgers is an attorney, business advisor, and founder of a company called Hello Seven. She also happens to be a mother of four, a Black woman, and self-made millionaire.
Her mission is to help women, people of color, queer folks, and other marginalized communities to earn more money and gain financial security.
Because for too long, white men have held the lion’s share of the world’s wealth. Rachel is determined to change this and bring the world into balance.
Watching Rachel create this book felt like getting the money masterclass that I didn’t even know I needed.
As the manuscript came together, chapter by chapter, I noticed myself incorporating Rachel’s words into my own life.
In the last year...
- I finally raised my rates after years of being too timid to do so.
- I hired my first two employees after years of being too scared to take this step.
- I got myself a proper office where I could work in peace without any interruptions.
- I forgave myself for embarrassing financial mistakes I’d made in the past and finally let the heaviness go.
- I got fiercely committed to fundraising, philanthropy, and activism in a whole new way.
- I began to see myself no longer as a scrappy freelancer, but as a CEO building a team, a community, and a workplace culture.
- I paid off a sizable amount of debt.
- I started a scholarship program.
- I had the most profitable year of my entire career—and then celebrated by giving bonuses to my team. When I'm rising, we're all gonna rise.
These changes happened, in no small part, because of Rachel’s book and the influence it had on my spirit.
I can’t recommend this book highly enough.
If you want to become rich—not just rich in money, but rich in time, peace, power, and joy—please go read this book. It will touch you deeply.
Lastly, some great news:
Rachel is doing a virtual book tour with several events—including an event on Monday May 10, 2021 at 4 pm Pacific / 7 pm Eastern with special guest Glo Atanmo. I’m proud to be sponsoring 10 tickets.
This means 10 people can attend the event on May 10—and get Rachel’s new book—for free.
As Rachel says, "Money doesn’t change who you are. But, money gives you even more options in life. The option to buy a safer car. The option to get a tutor for your kids. The option to walk away from a disrespectful boss or client because you don’t 'need' that cash and don’t have to settle. The option to become a philanthropist and fund the causes you care about."
Rachel wants you to have unlimited options in life.
So do I.
Enjoy the book.
And…Go do something today that makes you feel like a million bucks.

PS. Questions to journal about or discuss with someone you love:
- What is the best financial decision you ever made?
- What’s the worst financial mistake you've made...and what did you learn from it?
- If you doubled your prices or doubled your salary today, how would your life change?
- Do you believe it is possible to become wealthy without harming, oppressing, or exploiting anyone in the process? What would this look like for you?
- What does being “rich” mean to you?
- Would you like to earn more money, and if so…why? Make a list of 10 reasons why this goal matters to you.
- Imagine having a surplus of money—more than you personally need. What would you do with your “overflow”? What projects would you fund, what communities would you support, what is the legacy you would leave behind?
